In this Jellyfish Webquest! you will work in a group of 3 students. In your group, you will learn about about jellyfish in general, recent jellyfish blooms that threaten Australian and global ecosystems, and the role that humans play in these recent jellyfish swarms. Additionally, you will learn about a tool that can be used to track the movements of jellyfish populations and to raise global jellyfish awareness. Your final group product as a result of this Jellyfish Webquest! will consist of:

1.   An e-mail/letter to both The Australian Marine Conservation Society and Australian Marine Environment Protection Association addressing the concerns with the recent increase in the jellyfish population in the waters off of Australia and solutions that could be implemented to control the jellyfish population.

2.   A posting on an online saltwater forum regarding the recent increase in the jellyfish population, concerns associated with the increase in the jellyfish population, and actions that can be taken by individuals to reduce/control the jellyfish population. Additionally, the post should advertise/encourage the use of www.jellywatch.org (a website used to report and track jellyfish worldwide).

3.   Postings (about jellyfish awareness) with a link to www.jellywatch.org in a status thread at one of the following sites: Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Google Mail, AIM, Yahoo, or another similar website in an attempt to spread the word about jellyfish issues and encourage the use of www.jellywatch.org.
